How are types of volcanoes formed
Shield Volcanoes- Shield volcanoes are formed when lava oozes out of fissures and hot spots and spreads out to for a wide, broad sloping volcano. Thees volcanoes are wide and flat. Over thousands of years these volcanoes can become massive.
Composite Volcanoes- Composite volcanoes are tall and pointed. These volcanoes form from alternating eruptions of lava and ash. The lava from these volcanoes is sticky and does not flow far before it solidifies.
Cinder Cone Volcanoes- Cinder cone volcanoes are smaller than shield and composite volcanoes. When the lava erupts, it may harden in the air and fall as fragments. The small pieces, called cinder, accumulate around the vent of the volcano. Cinder cones and also ooze lava at the base.
